Summer Food Service Program

Supporting Empty Bowls means making an investment in your community. Hunger is a real issue right here in our own neighborhoods.

Did you know that over 75% of students in the New Castle Area School District are enrolled in the Free/Reduced Meal Program. While the schools provide meals for these children during the school year, what happens during summer break? The Summer Food Service Program ensures that children still have access to free, healthy meals while school is out.

Last summer, over 20 locations hosted the Summer Food Program throughout Lawrence County. Site served breakfast, lunch and snacks, as well as provided fun and educational activities for children a 18 and under. In addition, two mobile feeding routes were added making it easier to get to some of the children who may have had a harder time getting to a stationary site. Over 25,000 meals were served throughout Lawrence County!

Please join us to make a difference in the lives of children in our community.
